My Interview on Austria’s FM4

a few weeks back – while in Vienna – I was asked by FM4 [most popular radio station in Central Europe, I’ll have you know] host [and pal] Riem Higazi if I’d like to come on their show and talk about the happenings I had going on.

never one to shy away from my favorite subject, I popped into her ‘My Reality’ program and talked all things travel, Oklahoma, naked knifefights on this most-recent bike trip and getting an enema in Ecuador.

good times.

omkos – five

my god. we were kids. even without the obvious hurt that fills revisiting this show, it’s almost cringe-worthy – our youth. our need to impress. but in between the showmanship was fun. our dichotomy rings louder than our arrogance. I miss him. and I miss his laugh. and I miss his Parisian humor. as hard as it is to open these archives back up, the joy of having him around forever makes it shine. we were kids.

a queen and country – show seven [from chile]

if every show could be like this one was, I’d be the happiest producer in the whole world. you show up in an amazing city, meet some amazing folks – one of ’em, Alvarosky, knows music, speaks ESL better than your EFL, knows art, architecture, history, music and stuff. offers to sit down with you amongst a live audience and an even more live wine collection, to discuss songs, living under fear, why Chilean men know women best, and airplanes flying over us that shouldn’t.

enjoy. I sure did.

a queen and country – show five [from peru]

being stuck in Cusco turned out to be a blessing, as another man with a large collection of records introduced me to sounds I never knew before. obviously, we’ve all heard the odd Andes track, but blues? sacred shaman picks? and – my new favorite… Afro Peruvian funk – a genre that I got so into, I ended up buying 8 albums of. there’s mountain music and assassinated cumbian groups… plus a lot more. and I think I mispronounced ‘lackadaisical’, but spend two weeks at 11,200ft, sound this good you will not, hrmph?

enjoy. I did.
